Plant Therapy Organic Frankincense Carterii Essential Oil

Our Organic Frankincense Carterii Essential Oil is steam distilled from a Middle Eastern or African tree’s gum resin. For thousands of years, this aromatic resin has been used as a spiritual incense, in traditional wellness practices, and in cosmetics. Frankincense Carterii essential oil has many benefits, but especially for the skin. It helps rejuvenate the look of mature skin and can be used in serums or creams for the face. It can reduce the appearance of scars and supports healthy-looking skin, as it gently promotes your body’s natural skin renewal process.* Hydrating, nourishing, and sweet smelling, it may also help improve the look of stretch marks, blemishes, and age spots.* The respiratory and immune system also benefit from this aromatic essential oil. This oil is high in alpha-pinene, and other monoterpenes, making it a great addition to wellness routines. It promotes clear breathing* and helps maintain immune health,* while freshening the atmosphere when diffused. In aromatherapy, Frankincense Carterii is loved for its smooth, sweet, relaxing aroma. It is especially helpful for those looking for a sense of tranquility and focus.* The rich, grounding fragrance promotes relaxation and a tranquil atmosphere, while helping quiet the mind.*

What’s the Difference Between Frankincense Serrata and Carterii? The differences between all Frankincense Essential Oils (for there are four!) are difficult to pinpoint. All of them offer very similar aromatic and cosmetic uses, though with differing chemistry. The primary difference lies in the aroma.

  • Frankincense Carterii: This is the most well-known and commonly used Organic Frankincense Essential Oil. Frankincense Carterii has an intoxicatingly smooth, relaxing aroma that is deep, rich, and grounding. It is particularly prized for supporting the appearance of healthy-looking, revitalized skin and can be used in serums or creams for the face.

  • Frankincense Serrata: The aroma of Organic Frankincense Serrata is more sweet and delicate than other types of Frankincense, with a hint of pine. It is often chosen for its softer aromatic profile and is commonly used in massage blends for joint comfort and mobility.*

FAQs About Plant Therapy Organic Frankincense Carterii Essential Oil

Q: How do I use this frankincense oil on my skin? A: Dilute it first. I’d use 5 to 7 drops in 1 tablespoon of carrier oil before putting it on your skin, since this one shouldn’t be used straight.

Q: Does this help with stress or relaxation? A: Yes. A lot of people diffuse frankincense for that grounding, calming aroma. This one is Boswellia carterii, the classic frankincense people often reach for during meditation or when they want the room to feel more settled.

Q: Why does this one say Carterii? A: That’s the species of frankincense used here. This one uses organic Boswellia carterii gum oil, so if you’re comparing frankincense oils, that’s the ingredient to check.

Q: Can I take this essential oil internally? A: No, I wouldn’t. Plant Therapy says they don’t recommend ingesting it.

Q: Should I mix it with lotion or another oil? A: Yes, that’s an easy way to use it. You can add it to an unscented lotion or blend a few drops with a carrier oil. Some people also pair it with a drop or two of myrrh or rose if they want a warmer scent.

Q: Is there anything I should be careful about with this one? A: Yes. Don’t use it undiluted on skin, keep it away from kids, and if you’re pregnant, check with your OB or midwife before using it.
