Q: Does this work more like a multivitamin or an energy formula? A: Both. It gives you a full vitamin and mineral base, plus an energy-support blend with 600 mg NAC, 500 mg acetyl-L-carnitine, 200 mg alpha lipoic acid, and 50 mg CoQ10.
Q: How many tablets should I take per day? A: Four a day with food. If your stomach is sensitive, I'd split them up, two with breakfast and two with lunch.
Q: Why does this one have so much B12 and the other B vitamins? A: That's intentional. It has 500 mcg methylcobalamin for B12, plus 30 mg each of B1, B2, B6, and pantothenic acid. Those are the kinds of amounts you usually see in formulas made for energy metabolism.
Q: I've heard NAC and alpha lipoic acid can be hard on the stomach. Should I take this with meals? A: Yeah, I would. With 600 mg NAC, 200 mg alpha lipoic acid, and even the betaine HCl, most people do better taking it with food instead of on an empty stomach.
Q: My doctor said to be careful with iron. Does this one have any? A: Yes, 9 mg per 4-tablet serving. The iron is ferrous bisglycinate chelate, which is often easier on the stomach, but if you've been told to avoid iron, check with your doctor before using it.
Q: Does anything in here interact with medications? A: It can. Alpha lipoic acid may affect blood sugar, CoQ10 can be a concern with blood thinners for some people, and NAC can interact in some situations, so I'd run it by your pharmacist if you're on meds.
Q: Should I take this if I'm pregnant or nursing? A: I'd wait until you talk to your OB or midwife before starting this one. Same goes if you have diabetes or any medical condition, since it's more than a basic multi.
