Why high EPA rather than a standard omega-3

Most fish oils give you more DHA than EPA, or roughly equal amounts. This one is weighted heavily toward EPA, which is the distinction people are searching for when they type "high EPA fish oil".

The two do different jobs. DHA is structural and concentrated in brain and eye tissue. EPA is more involved in signalling and is the form that shows up in most of the research on mood. If you already take a general omega-3 and want to add EPA specifically, this is that product. If you're buying your first fish oil, a balanced formula is usually the better starting point.

Taking it

Sixty softgels. Take them with a meal that has some fat in it, which improves absorption and also cuts down on fishy repeat.

If you do get fishy burps, try taking them with a larger meal or splitting them across the day. Storing the bottle in the fridge helps too, and is a good habit with any fish oil.

Freshness

Nordic Naturals test for oxidation and publish their numbers, which matters more with fish oil than with most supplements. Rancid oil is the usual reason people conclude fish oil "does nothing", and it's also what produces the taste people complain about.

Check with your doctor if you take a blood thinner, since omega-3s can affect clotting, or if you're pregnant, nursing or on other medication.
