Plant Therapy Organic Wintergreen Essential Oil
Wintergreen is native to North America and was used by Native Americans for joint and muscle pain. Wintergreen is a bright green leafy bush with attractive red berries. The essential oil is distilled from the leaves. One of the main components of this essential oil, methyl salicylate, plays an integral part of almost every antiarthritic and analgesic balm for muscle and joint pain currently on the market.
Note: Wintergreen essential is a particularly potent essential oil. Please heed cautions included in the usage section of this page.
When Organic Wintergreen Essential Oil is blended with a carrier oil and applied to a sore joint or muscle, it brings an increase to the circulation of blood, warmth, and a very mild numbing effect. As pain is eased, the muscles and body are able to relax. It is often used by those with rheumatism and arthritis.*
Wintergreen essential oil can also be used to help relieve spasms in the respiratory, muscular, and nervous systems. If you’re struggling with spasmodic coughs, muscle cramps, or other spasm-related issues, this essential oil may be the help you need.*
Around the home, use Organic Wintergreen Essential Oil to help repel insects. Its powerful aroma can also be used to occasionally mask foul odors.
