Integrative Therapeutics Motility Activator™ Capsules

Motility Activator is a two-herb capsule from Integrative Therapeutics, a practitioner brand we have stocked for years. It pairs a standardized artichoke leaf extract (Pycrinil®) with ginger root extract to support gut motility, the muscle action that keeps food moving through your digestive tract.*

What gut motility actually is

Your digestive tract is lined with muscle. After a meal, that muscle contracts in slow waves that carry food from the stomach on through the intestines. Between meals there is a separate housekeeping rhythm, sometimes called the migrating motor complex, that sweeps the tract clear before the next meal arrives. Motility Activator was formulated around that in-between window: the artichoke and ginger combination supports the tract's own natural rhythm and everyday digestive comfort.*

What is in each capsule

The active list is short. Each capsule carries a clinically studied blend of Pycrinil® artichoke (Cynara cardunculus) leaf extract, 100 mg, and ginger (Zingiber officinale) root extract, 20 mg. The capsule shell is plant-derived hypromellose, and the remaining ingredients are dicalcium phosphate, cellulose, sodium croscarmellose, magnesium stearate, and silica. It is vegan friendly, and one bottle holds 60 capsules.

When and how to take it

The label keeps it simple: one capsule, twice a day. It does not tie doses to meals, so morning and evening is the schedule most people settle into. At that pace a bottle lasts about a month. If your practitioner gave you a different plan, follow theirs. Herbal motility support tends to reward steady daily use, so give it a few consistent weeks rather than judging it on day two.*

Who reaches for it, and who should check first

Most people who buy this were pointed to it by a practitioner working on their gut health, which says something about the formula: it is focused, not broad. There are no enzymes and no probiotics in it. If those are what you want, they pair fine alongside it, and you can browse our digestion supplements for options. One honest note before you buy: artichoke belongs to the same plant family as ragweed, so people with that allergy should skip it, and a few other situations call for a doctor's okay first. The full list is in the Cautions tab above.

FAQs About Integrative Therapeutics Motility Activator™ Capsules

Q: When should I take Motility Activator? A: The label says 1 capsule twice daily and does not tie doses to meals, so morning and evening is the routine most people use. A 60-capsule bottle lasts about a month at that pace. If your practitioner set a different schedule, follow that one.

Q: What are the ingredients in Motility Activator? A: Each capsule has a clinically studied blend of Pycrinil artichoke (Cynara cardunculus) leaf extract, 100 mg, and ginger (Zingiber officinale) root extract, 20 mg. The other ingredients are dicalcium phosphate, a plant-derived hypromellose capsule, cellulose, sodium croscarmellose, magnesium stearate, and silica.

Q: Is this the same thing as a digestive enzyme? A: No. Enzymes help break food down, while this formula supports motility, the muscle activity that moves food along the tract.* They do different jobs, and some people use both. If you want enzymes, look at our digestion supplements collection.

Q: Is Motility Activator vegan? A: It is vegan friendly. The capsule is plant-derived hypromellose, and the label lists no animal-derived ingredients.

Q: Who should talk to a doctor before taking it? A: Do not use it if you have a bile duct obstruction or an allergy to plants in the Asteraceae family, such as ragweed (artichoke is a relative). Check with a physician first if you are pregnant, nursing, have gallstones, take any medications, or have a medical condition.
