Barlean's Fresh Catch Ultra EPA-DHA Fish Oil
There’s a reason EPA and DHA are called essential fatty acids — they’re essential! Barlean’s Fresh Catch Ultra EPA-DHA Fish Oil Supplement contains a highly concentrated formula of omega-3s, so you don’t have to worry so much about getting enough through your diet!
EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) are considered long-chain omega-3 fatty acids, which are often picked over their short-chain counterparts. Omega-3s are popular for a whole range of wellness benefits — maybe even more than you expected. EPA and DHA:
- Provide nutrients your body uses for healthy heart and circulatory function*
- Support healthy immune function*
- Help with focus and attention*
- Promote a balanced mood and help your body handle everyday stress*
- Support healthy vision and eye health*
- Play a role in healthy pregnancy and fetal development*
Omega-3s aren’t commonly found in our diets in the amounts many people want. Barlean’s Fresh Catch Ultra EPA-DHA Fish Oil Supplement is a highly concentrated formula, so you can feel good about getting what you’re looking for!

FAQs About Barlean's Fresh Catch Ultra EPA-DHA Fish Oil Softgels
Q: Does this give you a high amount of omega-3s, or is it more of a basic fish oil? A: This is a concentrated fish oil. Two softgels give you 787 mg EPA, 394 mg DHA, and 197 mg of other omega-3s, for 1,378 mg total omega-3s per serving.
Q: Should I take these with food? A: Yes. Take 2 softgels daily with a meal. Breakfast or dinner is usually easiest, and fish oil tends to sit better that way.
Q: Why does this one focus on EPA and DHA? A: Because those are the main omega-3s most people want from fish oil. This one gives you more EPA than DHA—787 mg EPA and 394 mg DHA—so it's more concentrated than a basic fish oil.
Q: I've heard fish oil can cause fishy burps. Does this one do that? A: It can. The natural citrus flavor may help a little, but taking it with a full meal instead of on an empty stomach usually makes the biggest difference.
Q: My doctor said to be careful with fish oil if I'm on medication. Is that true? A: Yes, that's true. Fish oil can be an issue with blood thinners and sometimes before surgery, so check with your pharmacist or doctor if you're taking any meds.
Q: Does this have any allergens besides fish? A: Yes. It has fish and soy. The fish oil comes from anchovy, sardine, and/or mackerel, and the antioxidant blend uses lecithin from sunflower and soy.
Q: Is this okay if I'm pregnant or nursing? A: Maybe, but I'd check with your OB or midwife before starting it. I'd do that with any fish oil during pregnancy or while nursing, especially if you're taking other supplements too.
