Q: What does this one actually do for the liver? A: It’s mainly for liver support. You’ve got 350 mg of milk thistle extract, 250 mg each of artichoke and dandelion, and 200 mg of R-lipoic acid for antioxidant support and the liver’s normal detox processes.
Q: How many capsules should I take per day? A: Three capsules a day. The brand also says you can do 3 capsules twice a day if needed, but I’d usually start with one serving and see how you feel.
Q: Should I take it with food or on an empty stomach? A: I’d take it with food. Stuff like this usually goes down easier that way, especially with garlic extract, R-lipoic acid, and all the herbs together.
Q: Why does this one use selenium, and is 200 mcg a lot? A: Selenium is in there for antioxidant support, and this one uses selenomethionine, which is a form your body absorbs well. And yeah, 200 mcg is a decent amount, so I wouldn’t combine it with another high-selenium supplement unless your doctor told you to.
Q: Does milk thistle do most of the work here? A: Pretty much, yeah. Milk thistle is the main liver herb here. You’re getting 350 mg of extract standardized to 80% silymarin and 50% silybin, which are the main compounds people usually want.
Q: My doctor said to be careful with supplements. Are there any medication concerns with this one? A: Yes, I’d be a little careful with this one. Garlic extract and resveratrol may not mix well with blood thinners, and if you take any meds or have a health condition, it’s smart to check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting it.
Q: Can I take this if I'm pregnant or nursing? A: I wouldn’t start this one without checking first. Talk to your OB or midwife before taking it.
