Q: Does this help with mood, or is it more for relaxation? A: Both. Each 2-softgel serving gives you 100 mg of 5-HTP and 100 mg of L-theanine, plus lemon balm, saffron, and holy basil. So it’s more of a calm-mood, relaxed, slightly uplifted kind of formula.
Q: How many soft-gels should I take per day? A: The suggested use is two liquid soft-gels twice a day with meals and a full glass of water. If you take the full amount, that gives you 200 mg of 5-HTP per day.
Q: Why does this one have fish oil in it? A: It’s part of the formula. Each serving gives you 800 mg of fish oil, including 144 mg EPA and 96 mg DHA, and it’s there to support the mood side of the blend.
Q: I've heard that 5-HTP can make you sleepy. Is that true? A: Yes, it can. Some people get drowsy with this one, so I’d be careful with driving or trying it for the first time when you need to stay sharp.
Q: My doctor said to be careful with antidepressants. Can I take this anyway? A: I’d check with your doctor or pharmacist first. This has 5-HTP at 100 mg per serving, so you do want to be careful with antidepressants and even some pain medicines because of how they affect serotonin.
