FAQs About Mad Hippie Super A Serum

Q: Does this serum have retinol in it? A: Yes. It has three forms of vitamin A: retinol, hydroxypinacolone retinoate, and retinyl linoleate. It also has bakuchiol.

Q: Should I use this every night? A: No. I’d ease into it. Start with 2 to 4 drops every other night after cleansing, then use moisturizer. If your skin does fine, you can increase from there.

Q: I've heard retinoids can be drying. Is this one harsh? A: It can be, yeah. Mad Hippie added squalane, glycerin, sodium hyaluronate, polyglutamic acid, and tremella mushroom to help with hydration, but I’d still start slow if your skin is sensitive.

Q: Why does this one use bakuchiol too? A: Bakuchiol is there to support the vitamin A ingredients, so you get smoother-looking skin and better texture without the formula feeling quite as intense. People usually like that combo for fine lines and uneven tone.

Q: Can I use it with the AHA Exfoliating Peel? A: Yes, but I wouldn’t use them on the same night unless you already know your skin can handle it. I’d alternate them like the brand suggests, because retinoids and acids together can be a lot.

Q: My doctor said to be careful with retinol. Should I avoid this if I'm pregnant or nursing? A: Yes, I’d check first. Since it uses multiple vitamin A ingredients, talk to your OB or midwife before starting it if you’re pregnant or nursing.
