FAQs About Natural Factors Lutein
Q: What does lutein help with? A: Mostly eye health. This one has lutein plus zeaxanthin, the two carotenoids people usually take for macular support, blue light exposure, and healthy eye aging.
Q: What's the difference between the 20 mg and 40 mg versions? A: Mostly just the strength. The 20 mg has 20 mg lutein and 3.5 mg zeaxanthin per softgel. The 40 mg has 40 mg lutein and 7 mg zeaxanthin.
Q: Should I take this with food? A: Yes, I would. One softgel a day with a meal is easiest, since lutein and zeaxanthin are fat-soluble, and this one already uses safflower oil and flaxseed oil in the softgel.
Q: Does this help with screen time and blue light? A: Yes, that's one of the main reasons people take lutein. Lutein and zeaxanthin are concentrated in the eyes, so a lot of people use them for extra support if they're on screens all day.
Q: Is this vegan or vegetarian? A: No. The softgel uses gelatin, and there's also beeswax in it.
Q: Are there any medication concerns with lutein? A: Lutein is usually pretty straightforward, but if you take medications or have a medical condition, I'd still check with your doctor. I'd be extra careful during pregnancy or nursing too, and I'd talk to your OB or midwife before starting this one.
