Plant Therapy Organic Copaiba Essential Oil

Plant Therapy Organic Copaiba Essential Oil is an oleoresin from the Copaiba trees of Brazil. What’s an oleoresin? It’s a resin taken from the tree through the method of tapping. This method does minimal damage to the tree, allowing it to keep growing and thriving (and producing more essential oil!) for years to come. Copaiba Oleoresin is an incredibly smooth, gentle oleoresin and contains more naturally occurring compounds than the distilled oil. This oleoresin is also oil-soluble, which makes it a perfect oil for blending easily with carrier oils. Its smooth, sweet scent has a slight balsamic note.

  • Botanical Name: Copaifera officinalis

  • Aromatic Scent: Delicate, sweet, and smooth with a creamy-woody aroma

  • Strength of Aroma: Light

  • Country of Origin: Brazil

  • Extraction Method: Tree Tapping

  • Plant Part: Balsam

  • Kid Safe: Yes

FAQs About Plant Therapy Organic Copaiba Essential Oil

Q: Does copaiba oil help with sore muscles and joints? A: Many people use diluted copaiba oil topically for a warm, soothing feel that helps with muscle comfort and joint mobility.* Keep it diluted to 2 to 4% before putting it on skin.

Q: How do I use this if I want it on my chest or muscles? A: Dilute it first. For a comforting aromatic rub, use 1 drop each of copaiba, black pepper, and coriander in 1 to 2 teaspoons of carrier oil or lotion and apply topically.* For post-activity muscle comfort, use 2 drops of copaiba plus 2 drops of frankincense serrata in 1 teaspoon of carrier oil.*

Q: Can I take this essential oil internally for digestion? A: I wouldn't. The directions here are for diffusing, personal inhaler use, or diluted topical use, so I'd stick with those unless the brand specifically says internal use is okay.

Q: Why does this one just list Copaifera officinalis resin and no milligrams? A: Because it's an essential oil, not a capsule or tablet. Oils usually aren't labeled with milligrams the way supplements are. This one is organic Copaifera officinalis resin in a 10 mL bottle.

Q: Should I put copaiba oil straight on my skin? A: No. Use a carrier oil and keep it in the 2 to 4% dilution range, especially if you have sensitive skin.

Q: Is this safe during pregnancy or if I'm nursing? A: I'd check with your OB or midwife before using it. I tend to be a little more cautious with essential oils during pregnancy and while nursing, even when they're diluted.
