What does ‘fractionated’ oil mean? We know it sounds a little alarming — kind of like those scary chemical ingredients we are warned about in so many beauty and personal care products. But Organic Fractionated Coconut Carrier Oil is actually just a literal ‘fraction’ of Virgin Coconut Oil.

Here’s how it works — Fractionated Coconut Oil MCT (Medium-Chain Triglyceride) is produced through a heating process. This process isolates medium-chain triglycerides from other fatty acids in the coconut oil.

Because it is isolated, Fractionated Coconut Carrier Oil retains the full, amazing moisturizing capabilities of Virgin Coconut Oil, but now is virtually colorless, odorless, and liquid at all temperatures.

Have you ever noticed that when it is a little cool in the house, your coconut oil turns to a solid? This process prevents that! Regardless of the temperature, Fractionated Coconut Oil will remain liquid.

Suggested Use: Topical - Use at full strength as a carrier oil or an ingredient in aromatherapy projects.

Here’s a quick example of how to use Organic Fractionated Coconut Carrier Oil:

  • Add 10 drops of Lavender to a rollerball bottle and fill the rest of it with Fractionated Coconut Oil.

  • Place the ball top back on the bottle.

  • Take your Lavender Roll-On with you wherever you go!

  • Gently shake before each use.

Cautions: Although unlikely, because of the heat processing, allergic reaction to this oil is a possibility.  If in doubt, check with your doctor. Keep out of reach of children. For external use only.

FAQs About Plant Therapy Organic Fractionated Coconut Carrier Oil

Q: Does this stay liquid, or will it turn solid like regular coconut oil? A: Yes, it stays liquid. It's made with fractionated coconut oil, listed as caprylic/capric triglyceride, so it doesn't harden the way regular coconut oil can.

Q: How do I use this with essential oils? A: Use it as your carrier oil, then add essential oils to dilute them. For example, put 10 drops of lavender in a roller bottle, then fill the rest with this oil.

Q: Should I use this on my face or just on my body? A: You can use it on either. It's colorless, odorless, and it sinks in pretty fast, so a lot of people use it for facial massage, makeup removal, or dry spots without that heavy greasy feel.

Q: Why does the ingredient list only say caprylic/capric triglyceride? A: Because that's the fractionated coconut oil. You're basically getting one organic ingredient here, not a blend with a bunch of extras.

Q: I've heard coconut oil can cause reactions. Is this one a problem for sensitive skin? A: Usually it's well tolerated, but reactions can still happen. The caution says an allergic reaction is unlikely, though possible because of the heat processing, so I'd patch test first if your skin is reactive.

Q: Can I take this by mouth? A: No, I'd use this on skin only. It's sold as a carrier oil for skin and aromatherapy projects, not as an oral supplement.

Q: My doctor said to be careful with products during pregnancy. Is this okay to use? A: The carrier oil itself is pretty simple, but if you're using it with essential oils, that's the part I'd be more careful with. Talk to your OB or midwife before starting this one, especially if you're using it in blends.
