If you’ve tried other energy gels, you’re probably wary of a few things — the taste and how well the formula really holds up. Luckily, this gel comes in two flavors you’ll genuinely enjoy, espresso and huckleberry. Plus, this energy gel brings together branched-chain amino acids, complex carbohydrates, and electrolytes in a formula designed to help with endurance and performance during training.*

The energy-focused nutrients in Hammer Nutrition Hammer Gel include:

  • L-Leucine assists in protein synthesis and helps maintain healthy muscle tissue*

  • L-Isoleucine plays a role in energy metabolism and is often used to help with muscle maintenance*

  • L-Valine is involved in muscle recovery and may help with exercise-related energy demands*

  • L-Alanine helps with lean muscle support and promotes exercise performance*

  • Potassium Chloride supports muscle and nerve function and helps maintain healthy circulation*

When you need an extra kick for demanding workouts, give Hammer Nutrition Hammer Gel a try!

Suggested Use: Use as a primary fuel source of calories during exercise less than 3 hours. Consume 1 serving 10 minutes before and every 45 minutes during exercise. Add 16– 26 oz (473–768 ml), depending on temperatures, of water per hour.

If using more than one fuel, be sure to count all of the calories from all of the products consumed to reach a correct total hourly intake.

Use as a secondary calorie source during exercise lasting more than 3 hours; it’s time to switch to Perpetuem® as your primary fuel source. However, Hammer Gel can be combined with Perpetuem or any other Hammer fuel during prolonged exercise for variety and to avoid flavor fatigue. Just be sure to count calories from all sources to avoid over-consuming.

FAQs About Hammer Nutrition Hammer Gel®

Q: Does Hammer Gel work best before a workout or during it? A: Both. I’d use 1 serving about 10 minutes before you start, then another serving every 45 minutes during exercise if you’re going under 3 hours.

Q: How many calories and carbs do you get per serving? A: Each 1.7 tablespoon serving gives you 90 calories and 22 grams of carbs.

Q: Why does this one use maltodextrin instead of a bunch of sugar? A: Because it’s meant to be easier on the stomach while still giving you quick fuel. The Huckleberry flavor has 2 grams of total sugar with 0 grams added sugar, and the Espresso flavor has 4 grams total sugar with 1 gram added sugar.

Q: I've heard the Espresso flavor has caffeine. Is that true? A: Yes. The Espresso flavor uses coffee and added caffeine. If you’re sensitive to caffeine or training later in the day, I’d go with Montana Huckleberry instead.

Q: Should I take this with water? A: Yes. Hammer recommends 16 to 26 ounces of water per hour, depending on heat and how hard you’re going. That usually helps it sit better.

Q: Does it have anything in it for muscle support, or is it just carbs? A: It has a few amino acids, like L-leucine, L-valine, L-isoleucine, and L-alanine. But it’s mostly there for fuel: 22 grams of carbs and 0 grams of protein per serving.

Q: My stomach gets weird with gels. Is there anything I should watch out for? A: Maybe. This one is pretty simple, but the Espresso flavor has caffeine and tapioca syrup. Both flavors are processed in a facility that also handles eggs, fish, dairy, soy, and wheat, so I’d be careful if you’ve got sensitivities or allergies.
