Q: Does this just give you calcium, or is there more in it for bones? A: It’s not just calcium. Every 2 tablets gives you 400 mg of calcium from microcrystalline hydroxyapatite, plus 16.7 mcg of vitamin D3, 40 mcg of vitamin K2 as MK-7, and 166.7 mg of magnesium. It also has boron, silicon, and type II collagen.
Q: How many tablets should I take in a day? A: Take 6 a day total, split as 2 tablets 3 times daily with meals. I’d do breakfast, lunch, and dinner, that’s usually the easiest way to remember it.
Q: Why does this use microcrystalline hydroxyapatite instead of calcium carbonate? A: It uses microcrystalline hydroxyapatite, not calcium carbonate. Some people prefer that because it’s a bone-matrix form of calcium. Each 2-tablet serving gives 400 mg of elemental calcium.
Q: My doctor said to watch vitamin K. Does this one have any? A: Yes. Each 2 tablets has 40 mcg of vitamin K2 as MK-7. If you’re on warfarin or another blood thinner, check with your doctor or pharmacist before using it.
Q: Should I take this with food? A: Yes, take it with meals. The full serving is split into 3 doses a day, and taking it with food usually makes it easier on your stomach and easier to remember.
Q: I've heard magnesium can upset your stomach. Is that a concern here? A: It can be for some people. This gives you 166.7 mg of magnesium as magnesium oxide per 2 tablets. If you know you’re sensitive, take it with a meal first and see how you do.
Q: Is this vegetarian? A: No. It uses type II collagen from bovine cartilage, and the other ingredients also list bovine collagen.
