FAQs About Pure Encapsulations Buffered Ascorbic Acid Capsules

Q: Why does this vitamin C say buffered ascorbic acid? A: It means the vitamin C is paired with minerals like calcium, magnesium, and potassium, so it’s usually gentler on the stomach than plain ascorbic acid. Each capsule gives 670 mg of vitamin C from calcium ascorbate, magnesium ascorbate, and potassium ascorbate.

Q: Should I take it with food or on an empty stomach? A: Either is fine. I’d take 1 capsule with meals or between meals. If your stomach is sensitive, with food is usually the easier option.

Q: Does this have anything besides vitamin C in it? A: Not much. You also get small amounts of calcium (20 mg), magnesium (37 mg), and potassium (20 mg) from the buffered vitamin C forms, plus a vegetarian capsule and ascorbyl palmitate.

Q: I've heard vitamin C can upset your stomach. Is this one easier to tolerate? A: Yeah, usually. The buffered forms have a more neutral pH, so people who get that sour stomach feeling from regular vitamin C often do better with this one.

Q: How many capsules can I take per day? A: The suggested use is 1 capsule, 1 to 4 times daily. I’d usually start with 1 capsule a day and only take more if that’s what your practitioner wants, since each capsule already gives 670 mg.

Q: Does it interact with any medications or health conditions? A: Maybe, so I’d check with your doctor or pharmacist if you’re on medication or have kidney issues. Vitamin C can be a concern for some people with a history of kidney stones. If you’re pregnant or nursing, talk to your OB or midwife before starting this one.
