Douglas Laboratories Free Form Amino Acids
Amino Acids are often referred to as your body’s build blocks because they play a major role in muscle, tissue, and bone growth. Adding an amino acid supplement to your diet is a great way to help with muscle health, promote post-exercise recovery, and more.*
Douglas Laboratories Free Form Amino Acids contains not one, not two, but seventeen different amino acids in a blend that’s formulated with overall health in mind. Here’s why your body will be happy when you add this energy-boosting supplement to your daily diet:
Amino acids help with healthy digestion: This formula includes L-glutamic acid, which is the most plentiful amino acid in the body — and it’s often used for digestive health and gastrointestinal comfort.* In short, this amino acid is seriously good for your gut!*
Amino acids support heart health: L-arginine, one of the amino acids included in this supportive blend, is especially beneficial for cardiovascular function. It helps maintain healthy circulation and blood pressure already within the normal range.*
Amino acids are beneficial for muscle health: If you’re trying to build muscle, amino acids can help! They may help support muscle performance and lean muscle development when combined with exercise.* That’s not all they can do for muscle health, either. They can also be helpful for healthy muscle maintenance as you age.*
Amino acids help you recover after exercise: Feeling super sore after yesterday’s fitness class? Grab an amino acid supplement! They help with post-exercise recovery and muscle recovery after physical activity, so your body can get back to business.*
Amino acids keep you energized: They help your body break down food and turn it into fuel that keeps you going throughout the day. Adding energy-supportive amino acids to your diet helps support cellular energy metabolism and daily energy production.*

FAQs About Douglas Laboratories Free Form Amino Acids Capsules
Q: Does this help with muscle recovery or is it more for general protein intake? A: It’s more for recovery and amino acid support than as a stand-in for protein powder. You get a 600 mg free-form amino acid blend with leucine, isoleucine, valine, lysine, arginine, and others, so most people use it to round out amino acids, not to get a meaningful amount of protein.
Q: How do I take Douglas Free Form Amino Acids? A: One capsule a day. I’d take it with food unless your practitioner told you to use it differently.
Q: Why does this one say free form amino acids? A: It means the amino acids are already in individual form instead of coming from whole protein. Some people prefer that because they may be easier to absorb, and you get essential, conditionally essential, and non-essential amino acids in one capsule.
Q: I've heard leucine matters most for muscle repair. Does this one have enough? A: It has L-leucine, plus the other BCAAs, L-isoleucine and L-valine, but they don’t list how much of each. The whole blend is 600 mg total, so if you want something specifically high in leucine for workouts, I’d probably skip this one.
Q: Should I avoid this if I have PKU or take medications? A: Yes. It contains phenylalanine, so don’t use it if you have phenylketonuria. If you take prescription meds or have Parkinson’s disease, check with your doctor first.
Q: Is this vegetarian? A: No. The capsule is gelatin, so it’s not vegetarian or vegan.
Q: My doctor said to watch phenylalanine. How much is in here? A: You’d have to ask Douglas Labs, since phenylalanine is part of the 600 mg proprietary blend and they don’t list the individual amount. The label caution says phenylalanine intake should be kept under 2 grams per day.
