Plant Therapy Organic Clove Bud Essential Oil
Our Clove Bud Essential Oil is steam distilled from the flowering buds of the clove tree of Sri Lanka. Traditionally, this heart-warming, spicy essential oil has a long, proud history of use in Chinese medicine. Despite this, we’re all probably most familiar with cloves thanks to its widespread use as food spice, particularly in delicious Asian dishes. Clove Bud Essential Oil generally contains up to 85% Eugenol, a phenol that dramatically contributes to the oil's aroma, properties, and safety precautions. This potent essential oil also contains a number of other compounds, including the sesquiterpene B-caryophyllene and the ester Eugenyl acetate.

FAQs About Plant Therapy Organic Clove Bud Essential Oil
Q: Does clove bud oil need to be diluted before I use it? A: Yes. Always dilute this one. The brand says not to go over 0.5%, and I wouldn't use clove bud oil straight on skin because it's pretty strong.
Q: Should I use this for a toothache? A: You can apply it around the outside of the jaw if it's highly diluted in a carrier oil. I wouldn't put clove oil directly in your mouth unless your dentist says it's okay.
Q: Why does clove bud oil feel so strong compared to other oils? A: Because it's just organic Eugenia caryophyllus bud oil, and clove is naturally really concentrated. A little goes a long way.
Q: Does it help with sore muscles or joints? A: Yes. A lot of people use diluted clove bud oil for that warm, comforting feeling on achy spots. I'd mix it with a carrier oil first, then massage a small amount onto the area.
Q: I've heard clove oil can be used around kids. Is that okay? A: Not near young children. I'd be really careful even diffusing it, and I wouldn't put it on or near them.
Q: Can I diffuse this, or is it just for topical use? A: You can diffuse it. The suggested use also mentions personal inhalers and topical use, so you've got a few options depending on what you're using it for.
