Jarrow Formulas MK-7

Need an extra boost of vitamin K? Jarrow Formulas MK-7 has got you covered with an ultra-absorbable form of vitamin K2!*

Did you know that vitamin K comes in multiple forms? K1 is the most common, and it’s found in green veggies like spinach. K2 occurs in animal products or fermented foods (think sauerkraut, kombucha, yogurt, or raw dairy products). Both types are also produced in your own digestive system! However, Jarrow Formulas MK-7 uses a synthetic version of vitamin K2 because it stays active for longer within your body, and it is more easily absorbed than vitamin K1.*

  • Vitamin K2 (known as Menaquinone-7)*

  • Easy to absorb*

  • Helps maintain strong bones*

  • Supports healthy arterial flexibility and normal calcium utilization in the body*

  • Promotes proper blood clot formation*

  • Provides antioxidant support for brain and nervous system health*

Bones: We all know that calcium helps strengthen our bones. Vitamin K plays a role here too! It helps activate the proteins involved in keeping calcium in your bones. Pair Jarrow Formulas MK-7 with a calcium supplement for extra bone support!*

Heart health: Flexible veins and arteries help keep blood moving smoothly. Vitamin K helps with healthy calcium metabolism and promotes cardiovascular function, so your heart can keep doing its thing!*

Blood: What happens when you get a small cut? It bleeds, and then it magically stops! What is actually happening is that your blood clots and a small scab forms. Vitamin K plays a role in this process by encouraging healthy blood clotting and coagulation.*

Brain: Vitamin K contributes to brain and nervous system health, and gives them a little antioxidant backup too!*

Jarrow Formulas® MK-7 is naturally made via fermentation by Bacillus subtilis subsp. natto and is much better absorbed than K1 from spinach.* MK-7 is a longer-acting form of vitamin K vs. K1 and MK-4, and helps with the carboxylation of specific proteins needed to build bones and maintain cardiovascular health.*

FAQs About Jarrow Formulas MK-7

Q: Does MK-7 help with bone health or is it more for the heart? A: Both. MK-7 is a form of vitamin K2 people usually take for bone support and cardiovascular health because it helps direct calcium where it's supposed to go.

Q: What's the difference between the 90 mcg and 180 mcg versions? A: Just the dose. One softgel gives you either 90 mcg or 180 mcg of vitamin K2 as natural MK-7. If you're new to it, I'd start with the 90 mcg.

Q: Should I take this with food? A: Yeah, I would. It's a softgel with oils like olive oil and MCT oil, so taking it with a meal makes sense.

Q: My doctor said to avoid vitamin K if I'm on warfarin. Is that true for this one too? A: Yes. This is vitamin K2, so don't start it on your own if you take warfarin or other blood thinners, because it can affect how those meds work.

Q: Why does this one use MK-7 instead of regular vitamin K? A: MK-7 is a longer-acting form of vitamin K2. A lot of people choose it because it stays in the body longer than K1, so once-a-day dosing works well.

Q: Is this softgel vegetarian? A: No. This one uses bovine gelatin in the softgel, so it isn't vegetarian or vegan.

Q: I've heard vitamin K can be an issue during pregnancy. Should I skip it? A: I'd check with your OB or midwife before starting this one. Same goes if you're nursing or trying to conceive, since vitamin K supplements should match your situation.
