Ubiquinone or ubiquinol?
This is ubiquinone, the oxidised form. Ubiquinol is the reduced form and gets marketed as better absorbed, which is true in some studies and not in others. Your body converts between the two, so for most people under about 40 the distinction matters less than the marketing suggests. Ubiquinol is also considerably more expensive.
Where it does matter: absorption of either form drops off with age, and some people report doing better on ubiquinol later in life. If you've taken ubiquinone before without noticing much, that's a reasonable thing to try next.
Dose and timing
One softgel, once or twice a day. 100 mg is a standard maintenance amount.
Take it with a meal that has fat in it. CoQ10 is fat soluble and absorption is meaningfully better with food than without, which is why this comes as a softgel in rice bran oil rather than a dry capsule.
Worth knowing
Your body makes CoQ10 on its own and production shifts as you age, which is the usual reason people start supplementing. Statins also lower CoQ10 levels, and if that's why you're here it's worth raising with the doctor who prescribed them rather than deciding alone.
The softgel contains gelatin, so this isn't vegetarian.
