Plant Therapy Organic Bergamot Essential Oil

Organic Bergamot Essential Oils is one of the most versatile oils for aromatic and topical use.* It’s perfect for tossing into your skincare regimen, your first-aid kit, or among your go-to oils to diffuse throughout the day for relaxation during everyday stress.* Bergamot is actually in the citrus family and comes from the bergamot orange plant. It has a delightfully sweet, citrus scent with light floral notes. Thanks to its aromatic profile, bergamot essential oil has made its way into many skincare and hair care products, perfumes, and even Earl Grey Tea! Plant Therapy Organic Bergamot Essential Oil is cold-pressed from the bergamot orange fruits of Italy, where this plant has been enjoyed for hundreds of years.

  • Botanical Name: Citrus bergamia

  • Aromatic Scent: Citrusy and fruity with a warm spicy floral quality

  • Strength of Aroma: Medium

  • Country of Origin: Italy

  • Extraction Method: Cold Pressed

  • Plant Part: Fruit Peel

  • Kid Safe: Yes

Like many essential oils, and especially those in the citrus family, the aromatherapeutic properties of organic bergamot essential oil may help you unwind and promote a positive mood during everyday stress.* When diffused, organic bergamot essential oil will repel outdoor invaders, such as mosquitoes and other pests. Add a few drops to a tiki-torch wick or whip up your own DIY insect repellent spray.* If you’re winding down and want something bright and relaxing in the air, this essential oil fits right in. Some people use bergamot essential oil in massage blends to promote comfort after physical activity.* Topically, organic bergamot essential oil helps balance oily skin and gently helps to unclog pores.* It sloughs away excess oil and can help keep skin feeling clear.* This makes it a great option for teenagers. For topical aromatic use, add bergamot oil to a carrier oil and rub it gently into the abdomen as part of a soothing massage routine.* Like other citrus essential oils, bergamot essential oils may cause sun-sensitivity. In the bergamot plant, the compound responsible for this reaction is bergapten. When exposed to UV rays, it can increase your risk of sunburn. Plant Therapy’s Organic Bergamot Essential Oil is bergapten-free, so it is completely safe for use in the sun! Organic Bergamot Essential Oil Blends Well With:

FAQs About Plant Therapy Organic Bergamot Essential Oil

Q: Does this bergamot oil have to be diluted before I put it on my skin? A: Yes. Don’t put it straight on your skin. I’d dilute it to 2 to 5% in a carrier oil. Their sore muscle recipe uses 2 drops in 2 teaspoons of carrier oil.

Q: How do I use it in a diffuser? A: Use 3 to 4 drops per 100 mL of water. That’s usually enough to get the bright citrus scent without overdoing it.

Q: Why does this one say bergapten-free? A: Because bergapten is the part of bergamot that can make your skin more sensitive to the sun. This one is bergapten-free, so it’s generally a better pick if you’re using it on skin during the day.

Q: I've heard bergamot can help with oily skin. Is that what this is for? A: A lot of people use bergamot for oily skin, yes. This one is just organic Citrus aurantium bergamia peel oil, so people usually add a properly diluted amount to a skincare blend for excess oil or clogged pores.

Q: Can I take this essential oil internally? A: No. I wouldn’t take this one internally. It’s meant for aromatic and topical use, not as something to ingest.

Q: Should I avoid this if I'm pregnant or taking medications? A: I’d be careful. If you’re pregnant, check with your OB or midwife before using it. If you take medications or have any medical condition, it’s smart to ask your pharmacist or practitioner before using it regularly.
