FAQs About Plant Therapy Organic Lemongrass Essential Oil
Q: Does this need to be diluted before I put it on my skin? A: Yes. I’d dilute this one well because lemongrass is high in citral, and that can irritate skin if you use it straight. A good guide is no more than 0.7% for topical use. Their simple recipe is 2 drops in 2 teaspoons of carrier oil.
Q: What do people usually use lemongrass oil for? A: Mostly aromatherapy and muscle-comfort blends.* People diffuse it for the fresh, citrusy scent. Some also use a properly diluted mix on tired muscles, the scalp, or areas prone to breakouts.
Q: Should I diffuse it or use it on my skin? A: Either is fine. Most people start with a diffuser or personal inhaler. If you want to put it on your skin, just mix it into a carrier oil first.
Q: I've heard lemongrass can be harsh. Is that true? A: Yeah, it can be. The main reason is citral, which is a known skin sensitizer. I wouldn’t use it neat, and I’d patch test any topical blend first.
Q: Why does this say organic, and what's actually in it? A: It’s just one ingredient: certified organic Cymbopogon flexuosus, which is lemongrass leaf oil. Nothing else added.
Q: Can I diffuse this when I want a fresh, calming aroma? A: Some people enjoy diffusing it for its fresh aroma and relaxing atmosphere. I’d start there instead of putting it on your skin, especially if you’re sensitive.
Q: Is this okay to use if I'm pregnant or nursing? A: I’d check with your OB or midwife before starting this one. Essential oils can be more individualized during pregnancy, and lemongrass is one I’d be cautious with.
