Calcium is known as one of the building blocks of our bones. The body uses calcium as a primary component of bone material. Calcium also plays a role in a variety of essential biological functions, including muscle contractions, blood clotting, and even our heartbeats.* Unfortunately, many of us are deficient in this vital nutrient. A lack of adequate calcium can contribute to suboptimal bone health and reduced bone strength. These issues can affect comfort, mobility, and everyday physical activity. In these cases, a calcium-magnesium supplement may help support bone health and healthy bone mass.*

Why is this calcium supplement paired with magnesium?  Magnesium is used in hundreds of different biochemical reactions in the body, but one of its key roles is helping the body absorb calcium. By blending calcium with magnesium, both in their chelated forms, we can help with effective calcium utilization while giving your body a magnesium boost at the same time.*

FAQs About Pure Encapsulations Cal/Mag (Malate) 2:1 Capsules

Q: What are people usually taking this calcium-magnesium for? A: Mostly for bone support.* A 3-capsule serving gives 390 mg of calcium and 195 mg of magnesium in a 2:1 ratio, so a lot of people choose it because it gives you both in one formula.

Q: How many capsules should I take per day? A: Three capsules, one to two times a day. You can take them with meals or between meals. If supplements bother your stomach, I'd split them up instead of taking all 6 at once.

Q: Why does this one use malate forms? A: Usually because they're easier on the stomach than some cheaper mineral forms. This one uses di-calcium malate and di-magnesium malate, which a lot of people prefer when they want a calcium and magnesium combo that's easier to absorb.

Q: Does this have enough magnesium to help with muscle cramps too? A: Magnesium helps support normal muscle function.* You get 195 mg of magnesium per 3 capsules. But if muscle comfort is the main reason you're taking it, some people need more magnesium than a calcium-magnesium combo gives.

Q: Should I take this with food or on an empty stomach? A: Either works. I usually say take it with food if minerals tend to upset your stomach, but between meals is fine too.

Q: My doctor said to space minerals away from certain meds. Does that apply here? A: Yes. Calcium and magnesium can interfere with absorption of things like thyroid meds, some antibiotics, and bisphosphonates, so I'd leave a few hours between them and check with your pharmacist if you take prescriptions.

Q: Is this one vegan, and are there any extra fillers in it? A: It's vegetarian. The capsule is cellulose and water, and the only other added ingredient is ascorbyl palmitate.
